A server is a machine that has one or more of the Zimbra service packages installed. During the installation, the Zimbra server is automatically registered on the LDAP server. You can edit a server's records but you cannot add or delete servers.
To add server records, use the CLI zmprov command. See the Administration Guide for details.
The following information is available from the Server pages.
The general page shows the following:
Display name for the server
Field for a one-line description of the server
Server Host Name
LMTP Advertised Name. This is the host name to output when LMTP connections are made to this server
LMTP Bind Address. IP address to use when connecting via LMTP
Maximum number of scheduled tasks that can run. This is the number of threads that can simultaneously process data source imports. The default is 20 threads.
Sleep time between subsequent mailbox purges. The server manages the message purge schedule. You can configure the duration of time that the server should "rest" between purging messages either as a server setting or as a global setting. By default message purge is scheduled to run every 1 minute.
The option to enable that the server is a reverse proxy lookup target. If this is selected, the Enable clear text login is automatically checked in the server IMAP tab.
In the Notes section, you can add free-form text information regarding this server.
The Services tab shows the Zimbra services. A checkmark identifies the services that are enabled for the selected server. Possible services include LDAP, Mailbox, IMAP and POP proxy, MTA, SNMP, Logger, Spell Checker, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and VMware HA Heartbeat.
The MTA tab shows
Whether authentication is enabled, including TLS authentication
Web mail MTA Hostname
Web mail MTA port as 25
Web mail MTA timeout. The default is 60 minutes
Relay MTA for external delivery address
MTA Trusted Networks
Options for DNS lookups can be enabled
Milter Server can be enabled and the milter server bind addresses and port can be configured.
Important. When you make changes to IMAP or POP configurations, the server must be restarted in order for the changes to take effect.
The IMAP tab shows whether the following are enabled. If the setting is different from the global setting, the field is highlighted with a Reset to Global link.
Services enabled, including IMAP services, SSL for IMAP services, clear text login, and the number of thread allowed.
Network IMAP port numbers.
The POP page shows:
Services enabled, including POP services, SSL for POP services, clear text login, and the number of thread allowed.
Network POP options for advertised name and address and POP port numbers.
Multiple volumes for message store and index store can be defined for the Zimbra mailbox server
Volume Name. The name of the volume. The initial volumes are named index1 and message1.
Volume Root Path. The location in the file system where volume data is stored.
Volume Type. The volume type is either Index or Message.
Compress Blobs. When this box is checked, message blobs above the compression threshold are compressed.
Compression Threshold. Messages larger than the threshold are compressed. The default threshold is 4096 bytes.
Status. This displays "current" when the volume is current.
Assigned Current Volumes. The current primary message volume, secondary message volume, and index volume are listed.
HSM Policy. Policy includes the type of items to move, age of moved items and the policy string.
Note: Admin
console proxy requires the web proxy to be enabled. You can also use the
CLI to
set zimbraReverseProxyAdminEnabled
to true, which will make the change in a disabled config file.
See ACL Tab
You can designate the backup mode for the server which overrides global settings. See Backing Up the Zimbra server.
